Alexis Laurent is Associate Professor in Quantitative Assessment and Interpretation of Environmental Sustainability, with a focus on methodological development and application of life cycle assessment (LCA) and on development of life-cycle-based methods and solutions for quantifying environmental sustainability of large systems such as countries. Main research areas/interests are:
- Environmental sustainability assessment of large-scale systems, e.g. world, nations, sectors, organisations and cities
- Development of methods and indicators for assessing performances towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Development and application of life cycle impact assessment methods, including characterisation and normalisation aspects
- Environmental footprinting of products and systems
- Application of LCA to various domains/sectors, including energy technologies and systems, aviation sector, aerospace, waste management systems, nanotechnologies, etc.
